Questbridge Scholarship - 2008

Has anyone received any confirmation from Stanford directly about their application? I never got anything?

Also my Princeton supplement is showing has having been downloaded? Is this the same for everyone?

how/where do you check up on your princeton status?

Princeton sends you an email that says your application is complete once they get everything.

I mail everything to yale w track at Oct31, but it’s not delivered. over seven
days!!! Do you have the same situation? I don’t know what happen and need
your help!

did anyone get that email yet? O.o
I think mine might just be slow because I couldn’t request for SAT scores until my Oct scores were out.

also did anyone else get interviews? I only know of one person who got one with yale…but any others?

I got the email from Princeton on Nov. 2, but I sent everything that was on paper out on Oct. 26 and the actual online part on Nov. 1. So, it might depend on when you sent the paper part in.

I checked my Yale account and its says it won’t post until Nov. 15, but I sent it registered mail and still haven’t got the conformation paper back so I’m kind of worried.

email from Yale today - anyone else?

“Because this is Yale’s first year partnering with QuestBridge, we are not sure how many QuestBridge finalists we will admit in the College Match round. We certainly wish you the best of luck in this process.”

Yes, grtskt89, D got that also today.

grtskt89, i got an interviewer’s call yesterday (yale, too). i think they call you as soon as they get all the application material.

GA2012Mom, how’s your D’s interview? did it go well? (or not yet?)anyway, good luck. i’m nervous about the interview, too. and i forgot the interviewing lady’s name right after i hang up the phone…

hotchoco, thanks for asking, but no, it is not till Sunday. I will let you know updates then.

lol, i also got the mail…

Are interviews required for any of the match schools, or are you guys doing it to better your chances?

I don’t think they are required but a good idea if you have the opportunity.

Considering the importance of interviews in the overall application process, worrying about them should be the absolute last thing on your list. Ask yourself how Stanford was able to “survive” without alumni interviews? And then remember that off-campus interviewers are NOT admission officers and that their input ranges from slim to none. In theory it should help an applicant evaluate a school, learn a bit more about it, and in turn help the applicant. In practice, it rarely does.

xiggi, it seems you are a bit knowledgeable about the process; what do you think is the actual rationale behind the matches? Like… why is only a handful of matches made by lets say Princeton (last year there were 10 matches I think) and then a majority of acceptances in RD? I mean… I am assuming there were well over 10 candidates that were well qualified to be accepted, right? So how is it decided that one person gets a match over the RD deferral, or vice versa? Ahh, these questions are eating me up!

Celita, you have to remember that only 10 were matched to Princeton, but Princeton probably accepted wayyy more than 10. You are only matched to your top choice so I am sure some kids would be accepted to Princeton AND Stanford AND Columbia.
Also, there is no such thing as a “waitlist” for QB, so Princeton is only going to turn in the list with the students they want once. And I think since Princeton, Yale and Stanford are non-binding, kids who get into Stanford might apply to Princeton RD anyway.

That’s what I think anyway…not 100% sure. But the Amherst director for QB told me that’s how it works with Amherst so I think it should be the same with all partner schools

true dat…20 more days

Ah yes I see your point google. So even if 10 were matched, Princeton could have accepted 30 or so, yet those 20 were also accepted to higher ranked choices too.

Though what I’m wondering is what is the rationale between accepting someone for the match or accepting them later for RD, even those who seem well qualified for it, and do get accepted in RD with the same stats.

exactly, I still think it is hard to get matched, but don’t worry TOO much lol :)

also! I think that for RD the schools dont’ have to give you the FULL RIDE. you know? you family could have really lowww family contribution, but not zero.

has anyone heard from uchicago or notre dame yet? interviews? anything? I am a little worried and am not sure if I should call or something.

To those who ranked Yale -

I got a letter in the mail today with my Eli account activation information. Once I logged into my application status, it said that the teacher recommendation has not been received.

But on [College Match Program: Requirements](http://www.questbridge.org/cmp/college_requirements.html), it says “College Match applicants do not need to submit additional teacher recommendations.”

Am I missing something obvious here? Otherwise I’m contacting Yale sometime this week to ask them about it. Or would the right organization to contact be Questbridge?..
