Questbridge Scholarship - 2008

Sheed30 did u get an email?

Dear Applicant,

We sincerely appreciate your interest in the QuestBridge National College Match program. Unfortunately, you were not among the finalists selected by our partner colleges this year to receive a National College Match scholarship.

It is important to understand that the National College Match results are not an indication of your potential as a regular decision applicant. We selected you as a finalist because we believe that you have the qualifications to be a competitive candidate for admission at our partner colleges.

Last year, the number of QuestBridge finalists who were admitted to our partner colleges through the regular decision application process was more than five times the number of students who were admitted through the National College Match. Each of these students was offered a generous financial aid award, as all of our partner colleges are committed to making higher education affordable to admitted students.

We encourage you to use your QuestBridge application when appropriate to apply through the regular decision process to those of our partner colleges that you are interested in attending. However, remember that each of our partner colleges has its own requirements for post-Match applications and may not accept the QuestBridge application at this stage. Please visit our Regular Decision Process webpage to review the specific college requirements and for more information on your next steps: [QuestBridge National College Match - Regular Decision Table](http://www.questbridge.org/students/post_match.html).

As you move forward, feel free to contact us with any questions regarding the college admissions process. Also, we invite you to continue to utilize the QuestBridge forums as a resource during the coming months.

We hope that the QuestBridge application process has provided you with valuable information and experience relating to college admissions. We encourage you to remain in contact with us so that we can keep you informed as we expand the opportunities offered through our programs.

We wish you the best of luck in your educational pursuits, and we thank you again for applying to QuestBridge.

Kind regards,

The QuestBridge Team

Well, thank you to everyone who pushed for me and kept me going throughout this strenuous time. I really wished i could have got in but i guess that’s not what’s in store for me. Wish me luck for Regular decision, and to all of you who got in. Congrats and I hope to see you next year in one of those colleges :D

i guess i’ve always known the result…

Yeah, but i cant believe this process is over

Yea, i can’t believe it’s over either. My heart is like on the bottom of my feet and every time i move i just keep squashing it :(

bigsis, wow, Emory took 11! I think this is the first year for them in QB, correct? Amherst took 4, much smaller school also!!

i know…right?
well, i guess to all those who didn’t get in, we’ll just need to do our best for regular decision! all of this has been a great experience.

Yeah guys, don’t get down on yourselves (me included). The process isn’t totally over, there’s still regular decision. I’ve read somewhere that, come regular decision time, they take a good look at QB finalists (don’t ask me where I saw it, probably a forum, but I’ve seen it somewhere. To those of you who got matched, congratulations! I’m not getting down on myself way too much, definitely not stomping on my heart :P

Hmm. 20 minutes after 5 PM I have no news. I’m assuming a non-match, but I’d like to see it officially… no one had their QB locker status change, right?

i dont feel like doing anyitnhg more
i just got rejected from 5 colleges
can someone help me feel better

It also looks like the questbridge site is temporarily down - I was just on it five minutes ago and now my computer keeps giving me an error. I also didn’t get an e-mail regarding my finalist status - I had to check my locker for that - but I did get the e-mails from Yale when we first started out the process and the account confirmations, so it’s not like they don’t have the correct one… sorry for wondering aloud.

no, my status didn’t change. i think all of us received an email of notification.

jaw117, how did you get rejected? If you weren’t matched, that certainly isn’t synonymous with a rejection - there have been a significant number of finalists who have been accepted to schools with generous financial aid packages without being matched.

if they really wanted me they wud’ve matched me

GAMOM2012, you’re correct – this is Emory’s first year. There are other scholarships on the horizon: SAMMY, Lowe’s, AAA, and Best Buy. Everyone on here should apply. I’ll finally have another family member in GA.

Oh honestly, getting matched through QB is such a crapshoot, even more so than Harvard. Why? Because of the process – it’s such a complicated one, mostly in the final algorithm. This prevents most people from getting it. But as you can see by the statistics, QBers are much, much more successful in the RD round. (I can’t see why many would even bother to get their hopes up about it, since of the 3200 who applied last year, only 100 actually got it.)

Good luck to you all in the regular round! =)

Thanks, suan. jaw117, if you want to believe that, go ahead. But simply looking at the numbers will show you that it’s really not that bad.

haha yup yup, I didn’t get it either, but it’s ok just RD :D

congrats to people go did make it though

GA2012MOM, amherst only took 4? whoa, last year they took 10ish…that’s a big decrease

Got in @ ND, which is a good backup for UCLA and Cal if I don’t get in. Was kinda crushed that I didn’t get in my #1, but hey there’s always RD right? Congrats to everyone who got into their dream schools, and good luck to all in the RD process.

By the way, if we have already submitted our applications to Stanford, Yale, and Princeton, do we still need to resubmit the commonapp (if that even is an option), and resend the teacher recs, counselor recs, and secondary school record? It says in the RD table that finalists still must use the commonapp, but they don’t mention what to do if one has already applied to that school. Do we just contact the school and ask to be considered during the RD round?
