I’ve been told I’m good for EOF, I’m a transfer EOF student from Essex County College, and I’ve handed them all their requiered paperwork. When/how will I find out how much I been awarded? I’ve already paid my term bill with my Financial Aid (Tag, Pell, and Loans) and was wondering when the EOF money would be posted on my account?

Also, I’m going to the Business school but since I didnt take Statistics/Calc I have to do them before i can take any business courses. So I’m taking Statistics/Calc thats 6 credits and I needed to be full time. So I chose Elementary Portuguese because I’ve been wanting to learn a new language and its so close to spanish that it makes sense. Then I wanted to take a high level Spanish course, because even though I am fluent, I suck at writing/reading/grammar and proper pronunciation of certain things, and overall wanted to increase my spanish vocab bank. Thing is the way I have my schedule set the only spanish class available is Elementary Spanish…I figure w.e just take it and get an easy A…however it does say non-native speakers/beginners on the web registration…if I show up to class and obviously show that I can speak spanish will they kick me out or not?

Because of the cut in the State’s budget, funding for EOF transfer students is not certain, and Rutgers will not know about funding availability until late October or early November. Further, I do not think you will receive money but only be entitled to all of the EOF services such as academic and person counseling, tutoring, conference and workshops…etc.

And you do know that you can’t transfer to the Business school for the spring right?

Damn that sucks…but my EOF counselor lady told me I’d be getting funds…I’ve received EOF funds the last 3 years at county college(I got my associates in Business Admin)…I’m coming in as a transfer EOF student and I dont see why I wouldnt be able to get at least the cost of one class for the semester.

And I’m going to be at Rutgers Newark…and I’m already in the Business school and have Business Admin as my current major…I’ll be starting in Fall. In spring is when I can start taking Business courses due to me completing my math pre requisites this semester. So maybe i should just drop in to the EOF office and find out…but i’m pretty sure EOF is not government/state funded…isnt it a Private fund?

So does anyone know if the teacher will refuse to have me in her class for Elementary Spanish when she/he realizes I’m fluent? Or will they not care? I’d love to be switched into Intermediate but as of now its all filled up for the time frame.

cubanfire: i know that in elementary chinese, for example, a lot of native/fluent speakers take that course and receive their As without getting kicked out. but if you want to take intermediate, perhaps contact the department and ask if they have any special permission numbers or availability?

Oh your going to the Newark Business school…I should have asked first lol

Anywho, the EOF is definitely state-funded. How you not know that and you received it’s benefits for three years? Also, you are not going to Essex County college anymore, so you are not paying per credit. Instead, your tuition is based on full-time or part-time student. For instance, full time is 12 credits, and if you are taking 18 credits a semester, your tuition will cost the same as someone who is taking only 12. But transfers EOF students should have their orientation soon so maybe you can ask questions during that time.
