I had been under the impression that I qualified for automatic admit to a college (and I’m not complaining, I obviously just didn’t read the info closely enough), because I scored a 1320 on the new SAT with a 620 Math and a 700 EBRW. Today, I went back on the sote and realized that I apparently don’t. On the school’s site it states that the requirements are:
• at least a 1360 with at least 620 Math and 660 EBRW
I obviously meet the qualifications for the separately scored sections, but my combined isn’t high enough. The minimums combined add up to 1280. I’m just wondering why they then ask for a 1360 if their minimum section scores add up to below that. Shouldn’t the lowest composite score be a sum of the lowest section scores or am I missing something? (Sorry if this is a stupid question, and I’m by no means complaining as I’m sure there’s a reason behind it, I’m just curious and looking for clarification. I just hear that this college takes the time your application was sent in into account when you don’t qualify for auto admit and holistic view is FAR more difficult at this particular college, and I would have sent in my application earlier if I’d realized I didn’t – which, again, I take responsibility for).
Thank you!
