I was wondering if taking bio 99 without taking bio 97 (genetics) is a bad idea. Does Molecular bio involve a lot of genetics? I have taken bio 98 in the past without any problem really…

It is not a bad idea. It involves genetics, yes, but is less concerned with phenotypic function as is 97, and more with the DNA’s interactions within a molecular/cellular environment.

In other words:
Phenotype/resulting condition = big picture of bio 99,
molecular/cellular interactions = the details that gets you the majority of the points in bio 99.

You’ll be fine. I’m sure if you took 97 and did really well it would help a little bit in 99, but it shouldn’t really make much of a difference. 97, 98, and 99 all kinda feel unrelated when it comes to the type of info you have to learn.
