Question about Brown Scholarship

I will be applying to TAMU Engineering this summer and have a question about applying for the Brown Foundation Scholarship…

I did not prepare as much as I should have for the NMSQT as I did not realize the opportunities a good score would open for me. I have a 216 selection index in Texas, so I predict I will get National Merit Commended but not semifinalist.

However I did study a lot for my SAT and got a 1580…

Is there any way I could write a letter, appeal, or try and get considered for the scholarship even without semifinalist?

I have pretty good extracurriculars, internship, engineering projects, and I think I would have a decent chance of being considered for the scholarship if I could just make it past the NMS screening.

I don’t expect to be able to do anything or to be granted an exception, but it seems like it might be worth a try?

The eligibility criteria seem pretty clear to me. Brown Foundation Scholarships - Aggie One Stop

Unfortunately you’d need to be NMSF to be considered.
