Okay, I know there is information out there about students who receive Ds and end up retaking the course in order to have their new grade replace the D, but that isn’t what this question is about.

Consider a CCC student transferring in the winter who must complete a major prerequisite course with a B or above in order for the course to be accepted. The student receives a grade below B in the class the spring before, and must retake it in fall before transferring. Would it be better for the student to take a C in that class or a D? When admissions notices that the class is being retaken, would the D not be as detrimental as a C? Remember that the final fall grade wouldn’t actually be seen before the decision.

I don’t know about your schools, but mine (IVC/Saddleback) has spring until the weekend of May 22 this year. My drop with W deadline was on April 9.

i go to IVC as well and the semester ends super early like mid may… so u can no longer withdraw with a W… but i would suggest u work ur butt off so that u dont get that D… TRY!!!
