question about car part

anyone know the name of the piece of trim that runs underneith the doors and between the front and back wheels? i keep wanting to call it like a fender molding, but i don’t think thats it.

The stuff that goes on the doors or the piece under the doors? I’ve always called the stuff on the doors (big shock!) door molding.

The stuff that goes under the doors but between the wheel wells is the rocker panel. It’s actually part of the floor board of the car/truck.

its the piece you can see from outside of the car, that runs under the doors - its painted just like the rest of my car. I have searched for door molding, but apparantly thats the “lip” thats exposed when you open the door.

It’s either “body side molding” or “lower body cladding”. The part is usually part of an “aero” trim package on cars to “aid” aerodynamics. If the trim is cracked or broken, you have to go to a dealer or body shop to order a replacement. Or you could go to a salvage yard and see if you can take the part off a junker.
