My Samsung Galaxy S6 is dead due to an update stall and it went dead when Best Buy tried do do a Home Flash to save everything. They warned me. I’m annoyed as I just got it paid off 6 months ago. Note to self…disable all auto updates and figure out how to put pics in google cloud.
So, I’m just not up to spending $800+ on a new phone, outright or monthly. I only use my phone for texting, occasional talking and surfing the web. I’m mostly on my iPad. My son just got an iPhone 8 Plus and the pictures are incredible. I just don’t want to put that much in a phone.
So, I see I can get my same phone for around $250 from Amazon, or other places. Can you buy the phone and then take it to Verizon and they will pull my contact list from gmail? I never use gmail, I’m sure they have my password.
Or since I’m not buying new from them, they won’t do that? Or is it silly to buy old Technology?
Not sure about your specific questions but I just recently replaced my D’s phone when it died.
We bought one used iphone from Amazon and had to return it when she tried to activate it because it came up as having been stolen. The seller had apparently tried to verify that before selling it but was unable to.
We ordered another used phone from Sprint and they took 3 days to tell us it was out of stock. Ended up buying a new phone from Apple but not the newest model. At this point I would be hesitant to try to buy a used phone since we wasted so much time with it.
Verizon should be able to activate a used phone that you don’t buy from them as long as it is compatible with their network. Check that with them and check the details of the phone you buy to see its network compatibility- they’re not all the same. I was looking at used phones at Best Buy before I realized that none of them were compatible with Sprint.
How much do you want to pay? I have a Samsung J7 — the “J” version doesn’t have all the features of an “S” model but it works fine for me. Camera quality isn’t as great, and less storage overall. I don’t know of any other problems or issues… but then again, I’ve never owned a better model so not sure what I could be missing. But for me it was the difference between paying $300 or $800 for a phone, so I’m happy with what I have. Verizon also seems to sell several lower-cost smartphones by other manufacturers— so you might want to browse the Verizon options for new phones under $300 so you get a sense of things, before buying from Amazon. And you definitely can buy a phone from Amazon or Best Buy or whatever … but my main point is that the J7 is $240 new from Verizon, so it is very reasonable to expect that you can buy a decent smartphone in that price range.
We bought the Samsung J7 for our teens. I think it is a great phone, especially for the price. I think we paid about $250 per phone with Sprint. It does everything that the kids need it to do.
