When will incoming freshmen be able to choose their classes for fall 2008 semester?

Also, is there any way to find out which textbooks the professor will be using in a class when registering for a class?

You should get a packet in the mail sometime in Mayish, maybe June? In it, there will be a piece of paper that has all of the dates on it, including class registration. You will eventually be doing it through the registrar’s page. If you have an idea of what classes you want to take, you can go to [Your Customized Textbook List - Johns Hopkins University Bookstore](<a href=“Find Course Materials | Johns Hopkins University Official Bookstore”>Find Course Materials | Johns Hopkins University Official Bookstore)

Here, you just select the term, department, class (and section, but that makes no difference). Not all of the books are posted, and the professors are subject to change so don’t start picking up books until at least August. Or, if you visit old course website, you can get an idea of what books are used.

Ok thanks

How do I find old course websites?

Just go to department pages and try to find them.

When you receive your confirmation of your enrollment deposit you will receive a detailed Summer Mailing List which includes when each of the various mailings will be sent.

The first major mailing will be sent in early June and it will include information about your JHED ID (how you set-up your email account) and course registration materials from the academic advising office. I’d hold off trying to plan your next four years of courses until you get those materials – first, because the advising offices provide a lot of useful tips about course selections & second, most of the current Hopkins web sites have not been updated for the Class of 2012 yet.
