Question about Consumer Economics degree

Hi I just have a question about a consumer economics degree. Is this considered an economics degree or not.

I’m currently enrolled in this major and it is NOT a housewife major. I’ve heard a lot of people rip on this major calling it a housewife or homemaker major and it’s actually pretty tough. It’s loaded with business courses, about half of the core classes are business courses. It also requires stats and math work.

The courses relating directly to consumer economics are pretty tough as well. There are laws and regulations courses that are very intense that pertain to consumers rights.

I’ve looked at the course work of a BA economics major and it’s very similar to a consumer economics major…looks like it’s almost the same.

Any advice should I stick with this major or switch over to an BA econ major. Do you think there is much of a difference.

Thanks,
