I’m a cc student planning to transfer fall '09. I intended to get my AA in Philosophy before transfering but I am now realizing that most of the schools I want to apply to allow a maximum of 64 credits. The Philosophy degree I am working for requires between 69 and 73 credits. So, I’m assuming that if I want to transfes, I should not complete this degree. Is that correct?

That really depends on the school that you are trying to transfer into. Some schools say that it is ok to have over 60 units because they will remove some units (or give you subject credit); other schools do not like it at all and will automatically reject you.
