Question about Eastman School of Music

Do students of the Eastman school live in separate dorms from the rest of the University of Rochester students? If so, how far away is Eastman campus from the main campus?

also, who is the jazz trombone professor if there is one?

Eastman has its own dormitory right across the street from the school.

Eastman is physically completely seperate from the River Campus. They are about 3 miles apart. The Eastman campus consists of 4 buildings. The student center is the dorm for Eastman and has room for approximately 350 students. Freshmen get doubles, everyone else gets singles. That building also contains dining areas, recreational areas, counseling and career services and a couple of nice places for small recitals. The student center is across the street from the main building which houses Eastman Theater, Kilbourn Recital Hall, all the classrooms and all the teaching studios. Attached to the main building is the Annex which contains all the practice rooms. Finally, the fourth building houses the bookstore and the music library.

All Eastman students are required to live in the student center through the end of junior year. The exception to this is the double degree students who can choose to live on either campus. There is a free shuttle that runs frequently between the two campuses.

Mark Kellogg is listed as being in both the brass department for trombone, euphonium, and brass choir as well as being a member of the jazz department. He might be someone you want to contact although it looks like he is on leave this semester.

Taking the shuttle from Eastman to the UR River Campus is only a 10-15 min. ride.
