Question about EC list

Hi, I take a class at a local university that prepares me for math competitions. Should I list this under EC or somewhere else? It’s a pretty big deal to me and takes up 4 hours each Sunday.

And where should I mention that I’m a captain for our ARML Gold team? We only have 2 practices for ARML each year right before the competition and it’s not really worth taking up a spot in the EC list.

I was thinking of combining the math class and ARML since the people in the math class are a subset of the ARML team.

Thanks.

List the university courses under your self-reported courseload.

For the ARML EC, you can just list it under additional information - or tack it on to the end of a big math-related EC you have (if applicable). It probably wouldn’t be HUGELY significant though, unless your team is really good at ARML. Generally MIT doesn’t place much value on “laundry list” ECs.

I didn’t receive any credit for that class though, can I still list it there?

Yes. Just indicate that you didn’t receive any grades for the course, since it’s more like a gifted program.

I don’t think it’ll make much sense to put it in terms of EC activities, because it’s not really an “EC activity” - but do as you will. I think it makes sense to put it under self-reported courseload but if you don’t want to do that you can also put it in additional info (but I think it’s more effective if you put it under self-reported courseload).
