I was wondering if it is possible to get into Northwestern if a persons extracurricular record is not strong but they have great grades, score high on all the tests and write a great essay?

I’m also wondering if a part time job counts as an extra curricular or be taken into consideration during the application process.

of course a part time job will count; anything you spend your time on after school can technically count (although something like playing video games is definately an “extra curricular” you would not want to put down - but you’d be surprised, I know a kid who is ranked #2 in North America for a certain popular mainstream PC game and he put it on his app albeit he was deferred)

I for one held a part time job from 7 - 9th grade in my parents’ business because they needed my help. This was a very important extracurricular for me as I’ve spent more than 3000 hours working there. My experiences in this particular industry have also helped me work at other local businesses when my parents’ did not need my help anymore. If your parttime job is working for your new Ipod or your new car, I assume it will not look as good as my job will considering my situation. However such a job can only help your application, regardless of the circumstances.
