Is the financial aid at Vanderbilt good? If the package you receive does not meet your needs, are they flexible about working out the finances with your family so you can attend?

Also, I read that they have an honors program (take honors seminars, etc.) What are the requirements to be selected for this?

I’ve never seen the criteria for the honors program, but suspect it’s a combination of transcipt rigor and test scores. It’s a small program, I’m thinking around 30 freshmen start out, then 30 more are invited after first semester. (As a point of comparison there were 150 NM Finalists in this year’s freshman class.)

The perks of the honors college appear to be minimal, other than graduating with honors. There is no special registration or housing option. There is a separate study area. There were 6 honors seminars offered this fall, but the 3 most interesting were already full of upper classmen so my son opted for a regular seminar that interested him. The school is small enough that you can get great classes without having to be in the honors program.
