If you take a class at a community college, does it go into your gpa, and is it weighted on a 4.0, or 5.0 scale? Also, is this only for academic classes, or also visual/performing arts classes?

In my (admittedly limited) experience, if you take it through your school as a dual enrollment it counts for GPA credit and often, though not at all schools, is weighted on a 5.0 scale. However if you take the class independently, then in my (even more limited) experience, it does not count for GPA credit, though you should check with your school to find out its policy on this. At the very least you will likely gain some sort of elective credit and show initiative. To the best of my knowledge, academic and visual/performing arts classes aren’t differentiated any further if you take the classes at a college than they are if you take them as regular high school courses.
