question about grades???

hi everyone
i'm a freshman in high school. I'm having a REALLY hard time getting an A in AP Biology. I'm doing well in my other AP class and my other HNS classes, but I'm just having a REALLY hard time getting that A in biology. In particular, I blew my DNA technology test(blew as in low C, or D) and I really don't think I have a shot at an A in the class anymore. If I get a B in AP Biology, the maximum my unweighted GPA will be for this year is a 3.81(I'm 100% sure I will get A's in the rest of my classes). Please be honest, but how much will this GPA destroy my chances of getting into a school like UPenn or harvard or princeton? I'm sooooo devastated about getting a B in AP Biology because I know tons of people all throughout the country who have 4.0 GPA's and I feel like a 3.81 won't really cut it. Thanks

Don't sweat it! Top tier colleges get so many 4.0 applicants that they end up looking for something more than just academics.

I've gotten a B and I got into a top tier school. Last year a person from my school got into Stanford with a 3.7 gpa. No legacy, athlete, or hook. A 3.8+ is solid academics, if you're aiming for a top tier school you need more than solid academics. Also, if you improve (show an upward trend) colleges will like that. A 3.8 gives you room to improve.

Don't stress out, it's not that big of a deal.

You took AP bio freshman year?!

A 3.8 freshman year can average out over soph and junior years if you get higher GPAs then. A single B in an AP won't matter all that much
