<p>Yes they can. Don’t be a dick if you have a roommate though.</p>
<p>Make ground rules with your roommate. Don’t impose anything, make compromises. You hear about selfish roommates all the time. Don’t be one. If roomie is adamant, then have your friend stay somewhere else. You don’t have a right to impose that on anyone. Maybe sweetly request “can you stay at so-and-so’s room for one night?”</p>
