Question about high school records

My friend, who is a sophomore in high school, was recently expelled for fighting. She’s really bright and always got amazing grades, but due to district policy they have no choice but to kick her out for a year.

Now what’s troubling me is that the school is advising her to “go homeschool” and pretend that she never even attended their high school in order to make sure that this won’t affect her chances at college admissions.

Is it just me, or is this a highly irresponsible/unethical thing for the school district to do?

Can’t colleges find out she attended the school via a database or something? She’s asking me for help on this situation and I don’t want to let her down.

Thanks guys! Any information regarding national student records for high school would be appreciated.

Oh and for what it’s worth she told me to also state that she never supplied her SSN to the school.

thanks guys!

It’s been 5 minutes. I don’t think you have to bump. :P

Just because we’re talking about colleges here, I’d advise your friend to go with the truth and just stay at school. IDK what’s wrong with her school but you never know what might happen. There has to be some other place [sports awards? something like that?] that knows your friend wasn’t homeschooled. If the colleges find out, it’s more than likely a definite rejection.

And in a more objective POV – sometimes people have to suffer the consequences.

Thanks for your answer saphira  I’ll keep that in mind.
