Question About IGETC vs. Letters of Science

Okay, I know this has probably been addressed before but it’s confusing:
For a transfer student, if you took two years of a foreign language in high school, you get IGETC certification, right? IGETC is supposed to be a way to meet the Letters & Science requirements for transfers, so does that mean once you get certification, you’re no longer required to take a two college semesters of a foreign language as a Berkeley graduation requirement?

Yes, if you get IGETC certified you won’t have to take any language courses after transferring. However, you can’t get parts of IGETC certified I think; its all or nothing. What I mean is you can’t only get “checked off” for the language requirement and not fulfill the other
requirements.
