Question about letters

Does anyone have any information on what the acceptance/deferral/rejection letters look like. I’m just interested and curious.

Yes, they weren’t nearly as nice as some other colleges’ last year.
Acceptance:
Dear _______:

Congratulations on your acceptance into the College of ________ at Cornell University! We are very pleased to be welcoming you to the Cornell Class of 2013.

Very soon, you will receive your official letter of acceptance from us in the mail.

In the meantime, we want you to know that we are excited at the prospect of your joining the Cornell community and know that you will make a very positive contribution to the university as a future Cornellian.

Best regards,

Doris Davis
Associate Provost
Admissions and Enrollment
Cornell University

Rejection:
Dear __________,

We are providing you with our decision on your application for admission to Cornell University. We regret to have to tell you that we are unable to offer you admission to Cornell.

This electronic message is not your official notification. You should be receiving an official letter from us in the mail shortly.

We understand that this is not the news you were hoping to hear from Cornell. Given our very large and competitive applicant pool, it is not possible to offer admission to all candidates who would benefit from a Cornell education. If you would like information about transferring to the university after freshman year, please visit: http://admissions.cornell.edu/apply/transfer/.

We wish you the best.

Defer:
Dear ______,

Cornell has completed a careful review of our early decision applications, and the selection committee has decided to postpone a final decision on your application until the regular review process in the spring. We know that this is disappointing news, but please rest assured that your application will be read again thoughtfully and thoroughly during the regular decision period.

We wish you the best as you complete your senior year.

Sincerely,

What was the deferred letter?

EDIT: Thanks bio, lol, you put it in right before I posted.

That was quick. Thanks guys.

bioblade: are those RD decision letters? i feel like ED would be different… for accepted they wouldn’t say the “PROSPECT of you joining” because you are committed

It is definitely the ED letter.

Thanks bioblade. I also made copies from last years ED 2013 thread for myself, so I can confirm that these are correct. Thought that I was the only person that would do this kind of thing… lols.

few more days…
