Applicant for 25-26 here, I’m a little new to the Gateway to Prep system. On the Gateway website, I’ve seen the forms for recommenders, and they seem to be a grading scale type form (The english teacher recommendation, for example: https://www.gatewaytoprepschools.com/documents/english-recommendation.pdf). However, when looking through past threads, I got the idea that the letters would be similar to college applications, with teachers writing about why you would be a good fit for a certain school. Does anyone know whether it is a form like Gateway shows online, or an actual letter? Thanks!
I am pretty sure this is the exact form Gateway sends to your recommenders.
However, as you can see, there are lots of relatively open-ended question that leave space for the teacher to write individualized comments.
For clarity on process…
Is this the correct approach:
- Student requests the recco in person with the teacher.
- Student then sends an email to said teacher thanking them for their support, and asking permission to share their email.
- Student then gives email to Gateway who communicates directly/confidentially with teacher.
- Teacher submits directly to Gateway.
This is where I am confused…
- If more than one school is applied to, or several at different times as our list grows, the form is now with Gateway and can be shared with all selected schools? Please say the teacher doesn’t get asked school-specific questions each time?
How does it work after the teacher sends in the form once?
We are in a country where they don’t do this ans a matter of course, and it would be considered rude to ask for multiple forms. Don’t want to rock the boat.
Thanks!
I submitted requests for my recommendations- and yes, you can link 1 form to multiple schools, so once the recommender submits the application, it will be sent to all of the schools
