I’ll be a freshman at UW this fall and I’ve been placed in Haggett Hall. Since Haggett Hall has no kitchens of any kind, would it be possible to cook in the McCarty Hall kitchenettes on every other floor even though I won’t be residing in that dorm? Would anyone notice/care if I did this? Sorry if it’s a weird question but I have celiac disease and I’m worried about not being able to find food I can eat around campus.

It’s actually forbidden for nonresidents of the hall to be in the res halls without a friend. So yes, if you’re caught, you’ll be asked to leave, especially if you’re just taking up their kitchen. Does McCarty even have ovens/stoves by the way? Lots of the so-called kitchenettes don’t.

okay thanks!

I think they have “public” cooking areas in Ian’s Domain in the bottom of McCarty. Haven’t checked them out myself, but I’m pretty sure I’ve heard something like this.

haggett has kitchenettes on each floor. you might have to go up or down a floor or two to find one with an oven/stove though.
