Question about Michigan and U Pitt

I am looking to apply late into the window for both these schools, preferably by the end of tomorrow.

GPA weighted: 4.8
Class Rank: Top 10%
ACT: 34
Solid but not great EC’s.
Great recommendations.

My two questions:

Is there any shot in hell that I make it into Michigan OOS this late into the window?

Do I have to do the “optional” Pitt essays? Can I just do one or two or should I do all of them?

Thanks,

Ian

Unweighted GPA would most likely fall between 3.8-3.9 with nine AP classes. Never finished lower than a 90, and in most AP classes never lower than 93. Most of my worst grades were in electives and Spanish.

You are within the admission range for UMich and you should definitely go ahead to apply. Their RD is rolling, so it would be better if your apply earlier instead of a couple days before the deadline. This year is going to be much more competitive.

Ya I’m pretty certain I’m toast at this point for Michigan. I feel like this year is ridiculous for these public ivies…

I thought U of Michigan’s application deadline is Feb 1, why will it be a problem of submitting it now?

@annamom The RD is rolling and they do not wait till the deadline to start the reviewing and admission process. The late applications would be just entered into the system when they are about to release the first batch of admission in mid February. Meeting the deadline just makes you eligible for review, but the chance would be lower as much less admission slots left.

thanks. I did not realize it is rolling admission as I knew it has EA.
I like U of Michigan a lot, visited during my older DD’s skating competition, my DD18 has not visited and she has not decided to apply.

You should definitely apply to Michigan, your chance will be zero if you don’t.
