Question about Parenthetical Notation

Okay. I hate to sound ignorant now, but I’m kind of befuddled. So, let’s say you use embedded text in the middle of a sentence. Do you infuse the parenthetical notation right after the quote, or do you put it in at the end of the sentence? Thanks, if you can answer my question.

any parenthetical notation is always at the end of the sentence right before the period. you don’t sound ignorant either. the only reason i remember this stuff is from listening to librarians talk about it for the past 4 years.

Whats parenthetical notation? Sorry for sounding like an idiot.

Tymel: Parenthetical notation is when you cite your source at the end of the sentence you used the source in. For example: The college confidential forums are “grotesque and violent” in their destruction of the English language (silentsailor).

OP: Yeah, what he said.
