So technically MIMG is just like Political Science: you’re first admitted to a pre-major status and admitted into the major when the “prerequisites are satisfactorily completed.”
Does that mean you have to complete physics before you’re officially in? I mean, that would => taking physics and organic chem the same time, which isn’t a good thing.

yes it does mean that. it’s just the 14/20 series of chem and the 1/6 series of physics. nothing too bad cuz they are all lower division classes. oh and also, mimg has the lowest gpa out of the whole school i think haha. oh and it doesn’t necessairily mean that you’ll be taking both classes at the same time. it just depends what you want to do. i can finish off my chem series and then start physics, or just not take them at the same time. you have other choices too like ge’s, math, life science, etc.

true. It’s possible to take the MIMG upper division courses while completing the physics requirement huh (just that you still won’t be officially during jr. yr)?
I have all my math out of the way, but I feel like I’m getting screw for chem. They won’t let me take the 14 series (credit from Chem 20 A via JC)
I’m actualky a Phy. Sci. major at the moment, and I think I should stick to that (since I do like it). Are you sure MIMG has the lowest GPA?

“It’s possible to take the MIMG upper division courses while completing the physics requirement huh (just that you still won’t be officially during jr. yr)?”

the mcdb advisor said it was ok to do so

“Are you sure MIMG has the lowest GPA?”

<3.0 but if you love the material then go for it

are you sure about MIMG majors not really being in the major until all the under divs are complete? my roomie’s a MIMG major and she never mentioned a thing about it. anyway, chem and physics really aren’t that terrible together as long as you’re not taking any life sci classes alongside them. and, contrary to popular opinion, the 20/30 chem series isn’t too terrible.

From the UCLA website, regarding MIMG:

Applicants are admitted to pre-major status until prerequisites are satisfactorily completed.

hmm… interesting…

MIMG has the lowest GPA and a low number of pre-meds while Phy. Sci have a higher GPA and mostly pre-meds. So that would imply the grading in MIMG courses to be tough, but wouldnt the pre med competition make P.S. classes tougher to achieve high grades?

TonyLTH12 has a point; due to the inherent curve-bending competition among pre-meds regardless of major, the average GPA may not be an accurate indicator of a major’s rigorousness.

i’ve heard psychobiology is one of the easier majors

hooray for psychobiology! :)

i heard psychobio has killer upper divs though! is that true?
