question about pre-calculus

I’m going to take mathematical analysis my senior year, which i guess is the correct way to say pre-calculus.when i write down what senior classes I’m taking on college applications, should i just write down “mathematical analysis”, “pre-calculus”, or should i write down “mathematical analysis(pre-calculus)”?

you probably want to write Mathematical analysis (Pre-Calculus), because at some other schools mathematical analysis could be a synonym to Pre-Algebra.

you should write Mathematical Analysis

Definitely let them know that it’s pre-calculus, preferably the way falalalena said. Precalc is a vital course to have before finishing HS, so you should definitely make sure colleges know you’re taking it.

I would put the actual course name followed by pre-calc in parenthesis. You want colleges to know you are taking pre-calc, but you also don’t want want them to think you are being dishonest when they see you’ve put down pre-calc and your official high school transcript says mathematical analysis.

Some high schools have some pretty weird names for maths. I’ve heard horror stories at some rural Louisiana high schools where the school would make up a math course name that sounded good, and put their high achieving students in it because these students had already taken all possible math classes at the school. Other odd math class names are another way of saying “sports jock math”, though I wouldn’t take it against anyone if they took the class. Math isn’t for everyone.
