Princeton does not count 9th grade when calculating an applicant’s GPA right?

However, I if I were to apply using common app, I would not be able to specify for Princeton my 10-12 GPA, which is higher than my 9-12 GPA.

If I use the Princeton application, in the secondary school report, should I ask my counselor to put my 10-12 GPA and specify this when asked what time period this GPA covers?

The admissions office takes all of your individual grades and then uses the ones they’re interested in to create a standardized, recalculated GPA.

Is there a strict definition of “the ones they’re interested in” or does it depend on an applicant’s interests/background/whatever?

The ones they need. Since they don’t need your freshman grades, they won’t take them into account, even if the school submits them. Got it?

They only use core academic courses.
