Question About Princeton's Short Answer Questions

So I have started working on my college applications this Summer to get an early start. I am currently on Princeton’s extra writing. I have a couple questions about their short answer questions.

For things like “favorite website” and “favorite recording” my answers are things like “■■■■■■■■■■” and my favorite song… Should I put more thought into these kinds of answers, or should I just keep my honest, unimpressive answers. Sorry if this is a weird question, but I’m not sure if they’re looking for the “real me” or a specific intellectual person whose favorite recording is Chopin or Bach or something.

They are looking for the real you! These short answers aren’t meant to impress…they are meant to help the readers connect with your personality. Be authentic and comfortable with who you are! It doesn’t mean you’ll be admitted but I am quite certain that with the number of applications Princeton receives each year, the ad coms are probably reasonably adept at spotting what is the real you and what is not. It won’t help to try to be who you think they are looking for.
