QUESTION about professors

Hello, I was jus wondering (in your own opinion) who are the best biology/psychology professers at UVA, UPENN, NYU, Amherst, GW, UMD, and UNC-chapel hill? and Why? I know thats a pretty long list but if anyone could help me out that would be great!

Also, if anyone knows the names of people on the Admissions staff for any of those colleges?

Thanks!

Professors can be good teachers without publishing much research But, if you go to a university library and ask the reference librarian to view the CD-ROM publication abstracts or index for those fields (like “Psychology Abstracts” or whatever they are called) you might be able to search by college affiliation. You can tell who is publishing the most in the last 3 years or 5 years at that college. The reference librarian might help you. I am not absolutely sure you can do this but I suspect it is possible.

It is easier to simply go to the best college you can. You are likely to find professors that are more uniformly good at the more selective colleges. But there is good and bad at every college.

I think it is important to have professors who are active scholars but others may think it is more important to have good teachers. I think the best scholars are also the best teachers generally although some have trouble communicating well with students.

thanks for the advice :)!!

Look on Rate My Professors if you want to see what real students think of them.

As for names of people in the Admissions office, you could probably find them on the website. A lot of sites have a “Meet your Admissions counselor page.”
