Question about race/ethnicity

<p>I was looking at some of the stats for UCF and saw that there’s a lot of White (Non-Hispanic). Not that I mind. I’m just thinking about when I apply for UCF.</p>

<p>Let me explain.</p>

<p>The percentage of African American students are about 9%, so wouldn’t UCF want more African American students applying? It may sound a little stereotypical or racist, but I know for a fact Businesses as well as Colleges look at race or ethnicity. </p>

<p>My mother is black (American) and my father white (American). </p>

<p>When applying for jobs, my mom says to put down African American unless a “Multiracial” option is there.</p>

<p>If there isn’t, should I put down African American?</p>

<p>Ummmmm…I would probably put black, I think other (that sounds horrible) is an option. But I don’t think they’re trying to meet a quota, they have a good number of black kids (including myself now) there from what I’ve seen.</p>
