I’m hoping to effectively manage the exam aspect that could get me into a top college. However, I need to try and and hit at least a 30 composite on the ACT. Unfortunately, after taking the exam yesterday and becoming completely frustrated with the ridiculous timing, I’m considering just disregarding the exam for good. Should I attempt to take it again the next school year?

“top” colleges (ivies and such i assume you’re talking about?) will want you to score remarkably high on a standardized test, whether it be the sat or act. so if you dislike the act, you’re definitely going to have to go with the sat.

I’ve already taken one SAT and plan on taking another on October. I’ve been a very good student for years, but I–a slower reader and analyzer–can’t deal with time limits very well. In fact, I think that standardized tests are ridiculous for their inhibition of a vast number intelligent people, but meh.

If you’re not good with time limits, I wouldn’t recommend the ACT at all.
