Question about Scholarships and SAT Scores

Pitt’s website says that scholarship eligible students had a minimum SAT score of 1490. Is this for the new SAT or combined CR+Math of the old SAT?

If I have 1500 on the New SAT, will improving my SAT give me a higher chance of getting scholarships or is 1490 the minimum and everyone meeting that score is then judged on Short Answer Question responses and other factors?

I’m pretty sure that’s the new SAT. The higher the score the more likely you will get a scholarship. Also the higher the score the higher the potential $ amount. It also depends on gpa , rigor (IB, AP), which school you apply to, and finally essays. So take it again if you are a 2018 applicant and cosider trying the ACT as well. They take your best.

Also, apply early. Critical! Apply by Early October for best opportunity.

Dig through this thread and you can see how your scores compare and how much merit aid you are likely to receive. You should note that several almost perfect SAT/ACT students did not receive more than $15K per year. And they do appear to be very serious about the unweighted GPA/rank part so Scores PLUS GPA/rank make you eligible.

Apply early (application opened this year in July) and spend time on your essays. Stats alone will not get you a Chancellor’s nomination.
