Question About Scores

What would be considered a good SAT score for the new test? Would CollegeBoard ever issue scores early (as in before the date stated on the website)?

It depends what colleges you’re looking at. On college websites, you can usually find 25th-75th percentiles of SAT and ACT scores, and you should aim to be in that range.

As for releasing scores early, I don’t know about that. However, when I took the SAT, my score appeared on Naviance the evening before it was set to be released on the CollegeBoard website.

Last June, they posted the CRW and math scores a few days before the essay scores came out. Hoping they do that this year too. Gives a last minute chance to review and cancel the automatic sends if needed. Check Naviance because your school might get the scores early and update them there a day or two in advance.

It depends on what schools you’re looking at. For example, if you’re looking at local state schools or less selective colleges, it would be less than what you need for ivies and top LAC. I would say aim for 1500+ for these type of schools. However, scores are not the entirety of your application, so don’t get too caught up on them.
