Question about Self Reported Grades

My d is about to enter her midterm grades. She has both numeric and letter values available. But her classes are all weighted, so an 89 in an AP class is an regular on-level A. Should she indicate this, or just put a B with no explanation.

If she is accepted and they eventually confirm her grades, the grading levels explanation will be on the transcript. But she is worried that a few unexplained Bs in her AP classes will hurt her chances.

Any help is appreciated!

I would say to put a B. Colleges already know that AP classes are harder, and that many times they are weighted. Besides, a B in an AP class isn’t bad at all, especially if the grades are weighted and it doesn’t affect your GPA.

Thanks Book -

I think you are right. She is just freaked out because she had several Bs (and a couple of As) for midterm grades. But she is taking 5 APs (Calc BC & Chem included) and an additional Honors Anatomy class, plus taking a 6:30 a.m. class so that she could stay in her journalism class and keep her yearbook editor position. She also sat for SAT IIs in Oct, Nov and Dec and missed a week of instruction due to Hurricane Rita evacuation.

So I think with all that she should be VERY happy with her grades, but she’s worried because it is so competitive for oos candidates. She has straight As so far this term, and was thinking about notifying Carolina after the first grading period. But I really think she is fine.
