Question about signing up for class

So I’m about to head to my orientation and have been looking at all the language courses. Essentially all major language courses have been completely filled and are now filling wait list, leaving me with few practical languages to take(basically Russian is the most practical, most left except for that are things like Afrikaans).Being shut out of the language courses, and certain other courses I had hoped to take has left me rather frustrated. At UCLA will it be likely that I will be consistently shut out of many classes and the sort? Any advice on how to over come this problem, or whether it is essentially unavoidable and everything would be greatly appreciated…

Thanks

Oh and as for why I didn’t sign up for an earlier orientation session, I tried at midnight the day that orientation sign ups were to begin and a 530 in the morning, unfortunately sign ups weren’t open then and so I had to sign up early the next morning :-P

From what I understand language classes always let in all their wait-listed students. Also, AP credit gives you units towards your class standing which helps you get classes sooner.
