Question about SPS Junior Matriculation

When I asked an AO from SPS about repeating 11th grade, I was told that because they don’t accept students into 12th grade, SPS has 21 students currently attending who came in as a repeat junior. This number seems odd to me- SPS only has ~140 students in every class from fourth form and up. If we assume then that 10 repeat fifth form students are accepted every year, and that there would also be a handful of non-repeaters, there would proportionally be a rather large increase in class size, which isn’t really reflected in the enrollment numbers on SPS’ facts page.

Thoughts on this? If I’m being incredibly oblivious to something, please let me know. Thanks!

There were 136 students in Fourth form last year, and there are 144 students in Fifth form this year, indicating that at least 8 new Fifth formers were admitted (more if some Fourth formers didn’t re-enroll). On the other hand, 40 new students were admitted to Fourth form this year. I hope this helps.

it’s difficult to get in anywhere for 11th grade, could be helped if ur an amazing athlete tho

very true @applejuice007

I’ve always heard it is around 8-13 new 5th formers at most each year. And yes, being both a strong student and a strong athlete sure helps. Perhaps they had a few students kicked out or not returning?

that’s what I thought as well- thanks for the input @doschicos
