So I am applying to some selective schools (Lehigh, Bucknell, RPI, Villanova)
I scored a 32 on my most recent ACT so I felt pretty confident about my chances, but when looking at my transcript, I realized that there was an old SAT score from the beginning of eleventh grade.
I scored an embarrassingly low 1770, but I didn’t study or anything
Would sending my ACT score report via the website cause them not to look at the SAT
Through my common app I only put my ACT score, so I hope that they will not look at the SAT
But do you think this will negatively affect me?
Thanks
No. They are glad to find a reason to accept you.
Colleges in general, including the ones you mention, use that test with the better scores to determiner admission if you provide both SAT and ACT, and do not hold the scores of the other test against you. Not sure what you mean by sending your ACT scores via the website. If you mean emailing a copy of your ACT test report to the college, then no that is not what you need to do. What you should do is have ACT send an official score report, which you can order sent now even before you apply because the scores will be matched by the college with your application when it arrives. Also, on the common application provide your ACT socres in the section that allows you to provide test scores.
Also, if you have yet ordered your transcript sent, then check with your high school during the week, because it will also receive your ACT scores and most likely will add them to your transcript, and thus by the time you send a transcript it may nclude the ACT scores.
Yes, I meant send an official ACT score report.
So you are saying that they will not hold the SAT score against me, even if it is on the transcript?
Yes, although you could have phrased it better.
Colleges that say they will look at your best score will look at your best score. In the 12-15 minutes that a typical admissions officer takes to read an application pack, s/he has neither the time not the inclination to look for things to “hold against you.” As @T26E4 says, they are looking for reasons to admit you.
