Question About Stern

Is Stern one of those places where a majority of kids are val, sal or top 2-3% of their class. I mean, I’m in the top 8% and have no hooks, so I’m wondering if I’ll be starting off gimped.

I picked cornell aem over nyu stern. Woot ^^ I was top 5% and urm. If i got in I assume it’s not spectacular but according to business week the avg act score is 32, and avg sat is 1435. I don’t think it’s just val and sal kids, so you shouldn’t worry about that :)

Grats on the acceptances to both and thanks!

Not just val kids. I got in with a 4.33w/3.95uw and a 33 ACT. I’m probably 5-10% of my class. My school doesn’t rank, so I wouldn’t know for sure, but I know I’m not top 4% b/c I didn’t get ELC for the UCs.

Thanks and anyone else?

stern definitely has its fair share of valedictorians and top 5%s but just like a lot of really good schools, it also has a lot of above average as well as average students. all in all everyone is competitive and hard working (if not most)

Because Stern has a lot of very bright students, it forces you to work hard so you can keep up with your peers. You will find a lot of ridiculously smart people in Stern but after being a student in Stern, you learn most of them aren’t naturally super smart. They are just very hard working.

Alright then.
@conneli: What is your definition of average?
