Question about subleasing apartment for summer

What’s the best place to list a house for sublease for summer. My son listed somewhere on school site, not sure where. But is having no luck. I read on CC before that’s its easy to sublease for summer. What is he doing wrong.? I really don’t want to be stuck with extra 3 months of room payments.

My kid listed on Craigslist. He also posted a FB message on his wall and got lots of responses that way.

I live in a college town and it certainly is NOT easy to sublet for the summer in my town. Many parents/kids that I know have to eat the payments. Lots of students leave town for the summer.

Try advertising in the student newspaper, local newspaper, Craigslist, local Ad paper, his personal Facebook page, his Class of 2016 (or whatever) Facebook page at his school, put flyers up in the student union and other key buildings.

It is not easy to sublease in a college town, except if it is a major city, like Boston/NYC/San Fran…I know my kid never got her apartment subleased for the summer. We just had to pay for it.

Depends on the place. In Ann Arbor the going rate for a summer sublease is about half of the rent. You’re not gonna get full rent, but if you can get half that’s a lot better than nothing.

Usually craigslist is the way to go.

He’s in Tufts. So Boston area.

I’d think he’d have good luck then. A friend of mine is specifically looking in Boston for a couple of apartments to sublease this summer (not sure why, I don’t know her well). I would list on Craigslist. My older D just found her apartment here in Seattle that way-and looked at a couple of subleases in case she didn’t find what she needed in time. Seems like CL is the way to go here at least.
