Hello! I am applying to Summer@Brown for the 7-week program for college credit for and have a few questions. But first, here is a little background about me:

I am a junior in high school in Alaska.
4.0 GPA unweighted, 4.05 weighted (but am taking 5 AP’s this year, my school doesn’t offer AP’s until junior year)
1st in class
2nd degree black belt in Tang Soo Do Karate, have done it since I was four
Working on 2nd year independent research project, mentored by professor at University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF)
Entered/presented project at an all-state science symposium last year, got 5th place as a sophomore, will present again this year.
70+ volunteer hours (I know this isn’t very many)
Have consistently held a job in retail for as long as I can remember (my mom owns a jewelry store)

Alright, now to the questions:
- How “easy” is it to get accepted to the summer session program for credit? I know that the pre-college program is pretty easy to get into, but I am wondering about the 7-week program for credit, specifically.

2) The research project I have been working on for two years has reached a brick wall, as in no one in a 300 mile radius of my hometown has the resources/tools to do the “next step” in my project. So, my DREAM is to work with a professor on campus while at Brown this coming summer, granted I get in to the program. It is biology-based, and I have a recommendation from one of the leading biologists in the country, whom I know personally and academically (he was on the cover of Scientific American). I also have recommendations from my AP Bio and AP Chem teachers, as well as my mentoring professor at UAF, whom I have worked with closely for the past two years. Does anyone know how I would go about getting a professor involved with my research, has anyone done this, is it possible to do as a Summer@Brown student, etc? Any information would be wonderful! Also, what is the minuscule chance I could do this?

Any information/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
