I just went to the class today, and apparently there’s a new textbook for Gateway starting this year (4th edition as opposed the 3rd edition people are selling right now). McGourty said we needed the new ones and that the old ones wouldn’t work, so my question is, for those of you who took it before, did most of you get the textbook? If not, how did you manage without one? I really don’t want to spend that $160 for a book I probably won’t even use much.

i read the textbook only once - for the first class. after that i realized it was completely useless and just stopped reading. i dont think anybody reads that book.

mcgourty is probably making money off the textbook sales somehow.

the format of that class changes so much its ridiculous. it’s also the worst class ever. can’t really answer your question since there wasn’t really a text book back when i took it…i just like to take any chance to bash gateway.

Chances are you won’t need the book, it’s very possible that Mcgourty has revamped the whole course, somehow making the text book a central part of the class.

the book is worthless. as is the course and instructor. enough bad things cannot be said about gateway

all this gateway bashing makes me smile…another vote for the horrible course category.

Welcome to college.
