Question about the cornell summer program

How hard is it to get into the summer program? Are most people accepted? Also, I saw on the website that they discouraged taking two courses in the same category, but I want to take Com S 211 and Math 109 (Precalculus).

Looking around, cornell discourages university freshman from taking Com S 211… I’m taking the AP Computer Science A exam towmarrow, and all the other classes look as if they are intended for people with no prior computer programming experience. Is the class too daunting for someone who has mastered OOP?

One thing I found somewhat strange is the recommendation page they give you… It lists questions such as “Do you know of any behavior that suggests that this applicant is not reliable” and “Has s/he experienced any disciplinary problems, difficult challenges, or personal setbacks in recent years, and/or are there any medical conditions or learning differences of which we should be aware?” I’m a little confused as to why they would ask someone to recommend you negatively as opposed to just saying “Write what you think about this students’ candidacy.”

Anyway, is it hard to get in? Are the courses I want to take extremly daunting?

Thanks,
Mike
