Question About The Units

Do incoming freshmen get the newer, more colorful buildings that were recently built/opened?

I Know my tour guide at cal day said incoming freshmen dont get the new buildings at Unit 1 but I was wondering if that was also the case for Unit 2.

Secondly, does Unit 2 have a substance free building too? And will you get put into a substance free building if you do not request it?

Also if you guys could give some more input on cell phone reception in these two places (particularly t-mobile) that would be really helpful =)

Thanks a lot!

The colorful buildings are suites, and usually freshmen will not receive their dorm assignments in those.

No substance free building in Unit 2. Cingular works fine (officially has the best network in the Bay Area).

Since not enough students reqeust substance free to fill Freeborn, there are people in Freeborn who did not request it.

T-Mobile’s okay, I’ve heard mixed reviews. My roommate never has a problem but a lot of other people complain

Really sweetdreams? Didn’t someone in these forums say that they put Freeborn as their first choice and didn’t get in?

T mobile has some problems in the mini suites (concrete + steel), but outside is great.

My roommate had Freeborn as first choice and didn’t get in. He probably had terrible luck in the lottery drawing.

Weeird…I know SO many people in Freeborn who don’t want to be there; there’s a whole facebook group dedicated to it.

Perhaps what happens is people who request a Unit 1 double get put in Freeborn when the other Unit 1 doubles run out? Dunno
