Question about transfer recommendations

I am currently looking to transfer and I have asked a couple of professors if they would be able to write a recommendation if I needed them to. They all said they would be more than happy to. I am wondering if one professor would be better than another when it comes to the application process because I have no clue.

My list of choices are:
My Football coach,
Spanish Professor (minoring in Spanish),
Professor which I have known for two years but is not related to my major or minor,
Professor which I have only known for around a semester but is more related to my business major.

any advice in who I should ask would be greatly appreciated. I can have up to two recommendations.

Your Spanish Professor and the one you've known for two years... also, is it your football coach in college? That could actually be a good one if so.

yea it is my football coach from my current college. I was thinking I would ask him to write one if I ended up on a waiting list. For my main application though I was thinking of asking the same people you listed but I just did not know if people have had any experiences where one was better than another.

thanks for your input I really appreciate it, anybody else have any thoughts?

For the very top schools, those criteria are generally not important. It's what the professor can say about you that counts. The fact that a professor has known you for long time, or is related to your major isn't as important as you might believe. Try to gauge who can write the better recommendation. I probably wouldn't ask the football coach though, he'd probably get ****ed. My crew coach sure as hell did when I told him about my situation.

However, I did look at your situation, and it seems like you want to attend the University of San Diego. If that's the case, then I really have no idea what's important to that school, and you may very well be correct in seeking a recommendation that's germane to your major. Just a few things to think about.

Good luck!

I think you should choose the 2 academic professors who know you the best. I think it matters less of who the professor is, but what the prof can say about you.
