Question about UC Personal Statement!

I am applying to UCLA’s TFT Film School and they require a portfolio - in it should include a analysis, script, transcripts, and a…PERSONAL ESSAY!

Now here’s where I am confused, w/o sounding lame, I poured my ‘heart and soul’ into the personal statement on the UC application, and now they want me to write another personal essay?

Are they going to even read what I wrote the first time?

The prompt sounds pretty similar - albeit more focused on the major - but I really don’t know what to write “differently” for the personal essay without “repeating” some of what I wrote in the UC application.

I talked to one counselor and he was saying that while the personal statement is looked in UC’s at LA and Berkeley, it’s pretty much just there for the scholarship committee for the other schools, OR for borderline students trying to get in…

Is this true?

And if I repeat some of what I said in the UC application, will that make me sound redundant on the personal essay for my major?

no, i dont think you would sound redundant, in fact it might put some more emphasis on who you are seeing as how you poured urself into it.
