Question: Are you allowed to use contractions in the roommate essay?

Hi, I'm working on my Stanford roommate essay now, and I was wondering if I'm allowed to use contractions in it (I mean, technically I am allowed to, but I just wanted to know whether contractions in the roommate essay are frowned upon or not).

Testing to see if replying works (someone just PMed me saying that replying doesn't work here).

Who cares? Write how you normally write.

Don't feel like you have to appeal to them to get in - Be yourself and the rest will follow.

Contractions are a perfectly acceptable (in fact encouraged) aspect of the written word, and also will help you cut down on your allotted characters. Of course you can, and probably should, use them.
