Question for a current Gallatin student

On the Gallatin website, it states that while most classes at other schools are open to Gallatin, “in some cases enrollment is restricted to students in a particular department or school.”

In your experience at Gallatin, how prevalent are these restricted classes? Do you find that all the good or notable classes within specific departments are taped off and excluded from Gallatin. Are the less popular, maybe “second-tier” classes the ones that will end up being available to Gallatin students? How often were you prevented from taking a class that was “restricted to students in a particular department”?

I am just trying to get a clear sense of the opportunity to take classes at the other NYU schools. I don’t want to walk into my advisor’s office and find out all the cool or exciting classes I wanted to take are reserved for that school, and I’m stuck in Intro to Psychology or something…
