Question for anyone here who is a College Advisor/ Admissions Professional/ Part-time reader

Researching College Counseling Certification Programs

Been interested in deepening my understanding of the arena around college admissions after sending my children off to school. Whether it be to actually get into working for/supporting/shadowing/interning for an established independent professional or trying out a seasonal application reader position, I feel having a solid foundation around the latest information in the constantly changing world of college admissions would aid in helping me to be the best possible candidate to land employment in this field.

Any feedback from those in the field would be greatly appreciated. Programs you have completed or any advice in general?

Many thanks

One way you could get involved almost immediately (and at no cost) would be to volunteer with ScholarMatch. They have their last info session for the year coming up on Tuesday, with applications closing next weekend. You can learn more about them here: College Coach | ScholarMatch

UCI offers through their continuing education program a certificate of college counseling (online) and I see this certificate referenced in a lot in private independent college counselors backgrounds. It is recognized by the two professional organizations - HECA and IECA.
